What facial shall I have, an RF facial or a normal facial?

It all depends on what you are trying to achieve with a facial.

  • If you wish to have some exfoliation, pimple extraction, some superficial (epidermal) skincare application of a couple of products and a nice massage, a classic facial is a great idea

  • On the other hand, if you are looking for deeper treatment that affects the dermis, hypodermis and the lower face connective tissue known as the SMAS, in order to effect skin tightening and deep anti-ageing, then a radiofrequency facial is the only way to go

A classic facial will be more relaxing and you could benefit from the serums, creams and masks applied. Plus classic facials are much cheaper.

For deep / more impressive results, a radiofrequency facial is always much better than a plain facial

However, a radiofrequency facial can also be relaxing, if provided below the pain threshold. In fact, heat is deeply relaxing and a lot of our clients almost fall asleep during treatment.

Furthermore, serums and skincare products can also be applied before, during or after RF treatment and massage can be provided after RF treatment too. Plus RF treatment affects all skin layers: epidermis, dermis, hypodermis and SMAS. Classic facials only affect the epidermis.

However, exfoliation combined with radiofrequency is not a good idea, as it can lead to irritation.

So unless you are specifically interested in relaxation, exfoliation and pimple extraction, rather than deep results, then radiofrequency facials are far, far better.

The only limiting factor is cost, as an RF facial with a well-trained, knowledgable and experienced therapist and some good equipment to provide good results, are generally more expensive.

But if you find a clinic to provide a good RF facial, the benefits include deep skin tightening and lifting, circulation enhancement, pore contraction and even improvement of acne-prone skin.

When not to have an RF face treatment

Extreme intensity radiofrequency treatments that are applied with the aid of anaesthetic (numbing) cream or that combine radiofrequency with microneedling, cannot be classified as “facials”, as they are simply very painful. The idea of a facial, implies some degree of enjoyment and relaxation.

Such extreme RF treatments are also inherently unsafe, so we do not even offer them at our clinic.
